Hi, I am Gypsy from Gypsys-Scrapbooking.
Over the years I have been into all kinds of arts and crafts any where from stained glass to sewing. One of my favorite obsessions is photography. My love of photos lead me to the wonderful world of scrap-booking, but when I found it I decided that I didn’t want to do just scrap-booking, I wanted to create pages that reflected something of me and my interests. So I began experimenting with altered art because of my love for history and the Victorian era. This lead me to antique penny post cards. I loved the beautiful graphics that these Victorian artists created and I came to realize that the Victorian fad of sending penny post cards was the scrap-booking of the Victorian era. I loved this! As a matter of fact, this is where scrap-booking got it’s start. The Victorian women would collect these cards from people that they knew and put them into scrapbooks for their entertainment. (hence the saying, "send me a post card.)
With this in mind I thought it would be neat to bring their scrap-booking into the 21st century. So this is what I did. Most of the graphics that I use are renditions of 100 plus or minus year old art that has been reworked in altered art fashion to create unique scrap book pages. Some are a collage of different graphics, but my favorite are my penny post card collection. They are scrapbook pages made up from one single post card complete with post mark and stamp. I’d like to think that the Victorian artists that created these wonderful post cards over 100 years ago would have been the scrap book designers of today if they where still with us. I hope that they will be honored by the work that I present to you in their memory……. ENJOY!
