Question: When we post pictures of our work in the Gallery is it consider copywrited? If someone wants to use my exact design by copy and paste will they need to get my permission to do so?

Thank you

That's a great question Chris - let me see what I can find out about that for you!

Chris,

What are your thoughts? How would you like this to work?

We haven't posted Gallery rules yet, but I am inclined to think that the best approach is to establish rules requesting that anyone desiring to use content or ideas from Gallery images should contact the person who posted the images.

We don't yet have a way to send private messages, so that may be something to add in the near future.

We would love input on this!

Other sites I have been to ( not scrapbooking) and post pictures, have the name of the poster very faint somewhere on the picture. The poster also has the ability to turn this feature off if they so desire.

I don't think it would make much difference if you were posting a page with a family photo in it, but for pages like greeting cards without family photos, anyone can copy just by clicking on the picture in the gallery and send to anywhere on the web and pass it off as their own work.

Chris As far as copyright law is concerned you used to have to put a date and the letter (C) but that is all changed now.
You are legally covered by copyright if the material is yours the moment you make it.
I think There should be a disclaimer on the gallery however somewhere stating that the creator retains all rights
and ownership to the work on the gallery and should not be used in any way except by written permission of the owner or creator.

As far as putting your name on pictures, there are several programs to "Watermark" your pictures.
They put your logo or name very faintly on the picture or artwork and also digitally sign the photo or work.
here is a link to a search page listing a few of the free programs. (it will open up a new browser window)
look carefully at these ..they are not all free, Shareware does not mean free it means try first then buy.
Freeware means FREE. There are some free ones.

Just my 2 cents worth...
