The Thunder Basin is a large grassland prairie that lies to the east of the continental divide in Colorado and Wyoming. The portion that has been set aside as a National Grassland lies between the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming and the Black Hills of South Dakota. The small community of Sundance, Wyoming sits at its northeast corner.
