A little about me…. I am a Princess, if only in my mind. I live with the two loves of my life–my adoring husband and darling son, in a rural area north of Ann Arbor Michigan. When I’m not busy with the needs of the men of the household, comforting my neurotic rescue dog, or volunteering at school activities and church functions, I enjoy spending time with my girlfriends, wearing my tiara in public, and crafting in my basement creative zone.
I earned my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Wayne State University, and taught third grade before moving to Atlanta, Georgia. While living in Georgia, I started a home- based embroidery and screen printing business and worked in a small decorating shop. Through these two very different jobs, I was able to hone my skills in computer generated graphics and learn more than a text book could ever teach about pulling a room together with coordinating fabrics, furnishings and paint.
Upon our return to Michigan, My husband and I were tickled at the birth of our son. Zak quickly became the center of my universe and I discovered that one could just never have too many pictures of a child. As Zachary grew, so did the mountain of pictures in his personal portfolio. A second mountain of pictures began to form as we (well…my husband mostly) built our dream home in the woods.
I stumbled upon digital scrapbooking in 2005 quite by accident while helping with a school project for my son’s third grade class. With digital scrapbooking, I could finally do something with all of my mountains of pictures besides stuff them in a box or an album. I’ve known for a long time that pictures are treasure, stories to be told, and too important simply to sit in a box.
My other hobbies involve, sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading, and all things crafty. And yes, as a matter of fact, I do believe that wearing a tiara while paying the bills will make money appear in the bank account and that chocolate is applicable to any situation.
I am inspired by my vast network of girlfriends. From my oldest (as in number of years of friendship) friend, Kim, to my oldest (as in age) friend Etta, I’ve learned the finer art of totally appreciating every little richness of true friends. Amid these wise, dear, witty, and sometime insane girlfriends, I’ve shared the good with the bad, the empowering with the embarrassing, and the laughter with the tears.
I’m thrilled to be a part of the My Memories community.
